          Semmozhi Poonga is a botanical garden at the heart of Chennai managed by Horticulture department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. This is the first botanical garden in the city which was opened in the year 2010. The garden is located at the Cathedral Road–Anna Salai junction, opposite the American Consulate, on the erstwhile Drive-in Woodlands Hotel. The garden houses some of the popular exotic flora and rare plant species, medicinal and aromatic herbs and imported bonsai varieties from China and Thailand.

The garden features eight sub-gardens displaying flora of different varieties, such as a tree court, children’s playground, mural walk and bonsai, herbal and exotic gardens,  in addition to an artificial duck pond and also an Amphy theatre. Located in the central business area of Chennai, the park attracts several visitor and film crews for filming in the location.
